Unfold a paperclip and insert into the hole GENTLY. The hole is a DVD drive latch release access BUT it can be very easy to damage the DVD drive and or its door latch assembly by trying this. You should see where the CD slot is and your CD. If the cd spinner thingy is still engaged then put something under the cd and push it up to pop it off. Then if you can grab it with your fingers, if not then use something else you can get in there and grab it with. Padded preferred if you don't want to scratch it.
When the disc drive got stuck in my case, I had to open the DVD player on several occasions, and remove the disc manually. It's quite easy to do. Just take off the outer case, and then remove the top of the dvd drive (just a few screws). Takes 5 mins. As to my attempts to solder in a new IC chip - that's another story.

Here’s something else about failing dvd players of interest: Sometimes the dvd part can’t be made to work, but it will still play audio cd’s ok. That comes in handy for me b/c the Sony dvd player version I use plays cd’s not only in the normal cd format, but alsow encoded in mp3 format.

To solve the stuck dvd problem: ounce the cover is removed, unmount the dvd player from base (4 screws), after unmount the two side bracket (4 screws), you will now see a little white plastic gears, turn it manually very carefully (cant remember witch side), that will release your dvd.
